ABOUT
August Björn is an award winning pianist and composer, based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Known for his unique touch and deeply emotional performances, August has connected with audiences around the world.
With a background in both jazz and classical, August seamlessly fuses improvisation with intricate, expansive compositions. Drawing on his diverse musical background and his love of pop, rock, and world music, August evades easy categorisation, and creates a musical universe that is uniquely his own.
With projects like Curly Camel, Mykorhiza, and through collaborations with artists like Sara Aldén, August has played concerrts in Sweden, Germany, Tanzania, South Africa, Hungary and Turkey were he has performed at festivals, clubs and concert halls. August is currently recording his debut album, which is set for release in 2025.
An active composer of classical music, August has written works for some of Sweden’s most sought after soloists and ensembles. Works include a string nonet, a euphonium concerto, as well as solo pieces for classical guitar, contrabass, and piano.
August has studied with some of the most prominent teachers in Scandinavia and holds a Masters degree in Improvisation & World Music at The Academy of Music & Drama in Gothenburg.
