
ABOUT
August Björn is an award winning pianist and composer from Sweden.
Known for his unique touch and deeply emotional performances, August has connected with audiences around the world.
With a background in both jazz and classical, August seamlessly fuses improvisation with expansive compositions. Drawing on his diverse musical background and his love of pop, rock, and world music, August represents a new generation of jazz artists, challenging our perception of how jazz can sound.
August has performed in Scandinavia, Germany, Tanzania, South Africa, Hungary and Turkey where he has played at festivals, jazz clubs and concert halls.
Most recently, August has gained recognition through his work with jazz vocalist Sara Aldén. Their album, There Is No Future was selected as the "best vocal jazz album" by LIRA Music Magazine in 2024 and in 2025 it won a Swedish GRAMMY.
As an active composer of classical music, August has written works for some of Sweden’s most sought after soloists, including Göran Söllscher and Anders Jormin. Other works by August include a string nonet and a concerto for euphonium and orchestra.
August was awarded the STIM Scholarship for Composers at the age of 17 and has won first prize in Sweden's largest jazz competition (Young Jazz Comets). Today he holds a Masters degree in Improvisation & World Music at The Academy of Music & Drama in Gothenburg.

There Is No Future is the debut album of Sara Aldén, created in collaboration with August Björn and Daniel Andersson. August Björn is credited as pianist, arranger, and producer on the album.
